We are Hans, Cinderella,
Jordi, Brody and Micah Snijders and live just under the smoke of
Utrecht in a small town called Lopik in the Netherlands.
Our bullmastiffs live and grow up in our house and are very
social, which the pictures on the site will show.
Why bullmastiffs ?
At the end of 1995 we moved
from Spijkenisse to Lopik and we had two dogs at that time, a K9
from the Dutch Airforce named Frits and a briard Falco. On
newyearsday of 1996 we discoverd that Frits had a swelling under
his eye and he was diagnosed with cancer and we had to let him
go within two weeks. Frits lived to be thirteen years old. While
Frits was being treated for his cancer, Falco somehow misstepped
in the kitchen and was paralyzed in his legs. Whe suspect that a
bone fragment had entered his spinal marrow. Unfortunately Falco
only lived to be two years old.
After nearly a year without
dogs it started itching again. We started buying dogmagazines,
books about dogbreeds and going to shows again. This so that we
could see as many breeds as possible that interested us. Reading
about the bullmastiff made our interest in them only bigger.
After seeing them for real and speaking to some breeders at the
shows in Utrecht and Amsterdam we were sold. It was going to be
a bullmastiff.
We requested a breederslist
from the NMMC and it seemed that there was a litter born at the
Zypkaai kennel in Vianen. On a afternoon we went to go and take
a look, the litter was just five weeks old and we were sold.
After having a puppy in your hands you never want to let it go
again. We made a choice and on januari 3rd 1997 we picked up
Bono. Since then we are convinced that there is no better dog
than a bullmastiff.
After weighing up the pro's
and cons we decided that we would like to add a bully to our
home, only this time we wanted to breed with her. Again we
requested the actual litter info from the breedclub, but this
time we studied it a little better and came to the conclusion
that the lines in the Netherlands are quite small. We then
decided to go for a bullmastiff who's lines were not that
populair in the Netherlands.
Through internet we came in
contact with different breeders from all kinds of countries. In
the end we came in contact with Cath and Alan Ambler from
Cathaljays Bullmastiffs in England. From the various e-mails and
phone conversations we had, we were convinced that we were
dealing with a very serious breeder, who only had the best
interest in the breed. At that time she had a litter with
excellent Bunsoro lines, and she was prepared to export a puppy
to us in the Netherlands. After getting all the paperwork done
we picked a date and on the 12th of may in 2000 we crossed the
channel to go and pick up Cathaljay's Moonbeam, our Lola.
In 2003 we welcomed another
bullylady to our home, Black Velvet v.d. Bullma Hoven. The
Lenders family had decided to stop breeding and we were
fortunate enough to be able to take Brenna, a beautiful brindle
girl, over from them.
It was love at first sight, wat a great bitch this was. She had
the best character you could wish for and adapted perfectly
within our household.
In the summer of 2003 we
welcomed our first New Sensation's litter in the Netherlands.
Our Lola gave birth to two red boys. The father was Bullspirit's
Heavy Chevy owned by the Family Hoek.
The love
of the breed has only grown with the years. The bully's have been
in our house for more than ten years now and the saying "once
a bully allways a bully" is a definite for us. Our
dogs live in our house and grow up with our kids as part of our
family. We do not believe in kennels outside or a rotation system
of letting the dogs in the house.
For years we have been using the following slogan:
" Show is nice, Social is
better "
If you have any
questions about the breed or our dogs after seeing our site or you
would like to meet our dogs in person, please do not hesitate to
ask or contact us via e-mail.
